Garibaldi

Historic building in Rome that represents the Renaissance architecture of the 16th century. It boasts the recognition of the first suburban villa in the city. Today it is home to the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei.

On the slopes of the Janiculum, with an extension of 12 hectares, it houses more than 3000 plant species. Located inside the park of Villa Corsini, once the residence of Cristina of Sweden, it hosts the Japanese garden in the upper part, designed by the architect Ken Nakajima.

It stands on the skeleton of an older Roman bridge and connects P.zza San Vincenzo Pallotti to P.zza Trilussa.

Founded by Pope Callixtus I in the place where “oil gushed from the ground”, it is the most important basilica in the Trastevere district. At the top of the bell tower, inside a niche, a careful eye can see an ancient mosaic depicting the Madonna and child.

The Roman fountain is the terminal exhibition of the Acqua Paola aqueduct. One of the symbols characterizing the city of Rome, appears in several cinematographic films that have contributed to make the fountain famous.

Housed in the homonymous palace, today the gallery is an example of an ancient art gallery, the works are arranged in succession, hung on the walls and integrate perfectly with the furnishings of the rooms.

Owned by the Italian state, it was granted in 1936, for a period of 99 years, to the French government which made it the residence of its embassy. Puccini set the second act of Tosca there, it was commissioned by Alessandro Farnese, future Pope Paul III.

Until the 15th century there was no trace of the square as we know it today. Instead, there was a large flowery meadow with some vegetable gardens. In the 1600s it became the place of executions. Among the most famous is that of the philosopher Giordano Bruno.

Real and only urban island in the Tiber. Connected to the two banks of the river by two Roman bridges, the island has been monumentalized. It is still possible to note how travertine blocks were strategically placed to recreate the bow of a ship.

In the center it is possible to admire the remains of 4 Roman temples of the Republican era. The tower that can be seen is that of the Papito, from the Middle Ages, which has nothing to do with the Argentina tower, dedicated to the high prelate Burcardo.

Catholic place of worship and national church of the French in Rome. From an architectural point of view, it is an exaltation of France and houses several tombs of important personalities. The Contarelli Chapel houses the pictorial cycle on San Matteo created by Caravaggio.

Also called Mausoleo di Adriano, it is a monument physically connected to the Vatican State through the fortified corridor called “the passetto”. From the end of the 300 it was used by the Popes as a secret refuge and as a prison.

In Greek it means Temple of all the Gods. Located in the historical center of Rome. Legend has it that rainwater could not enter from the central hole of the dome. In reality, the effect was due to the myriad of burning candles that, meeting with the rain, nebulized it.

Collection point of the most important streets of the capital, it is dominated by the Altare della Patria, a symbol of Italian history. The west side is occupied by Palazzo Venezia chosen in ’39 by Benito Mussolini as the seat of the council and from that balcony he gave his speeches.
